I asked someone else to write a bit of background and was stunned (in a good way) to receive this write up.
Originally, I studied Graphic Design and Photography, but I embrace all aspects of visual and aural creativity. Life has taken me in many directions and I have been fortunate to make the most of opportunities to develop my craft.
If you, like me, find it tough to write your own CV, then you can perhaps allow me the luxury of showing the piece below, written for me:-
Joanna Goodwin - Photographer and Designer
Introduction
Meeting Joanna is like finding a comfortable place in the world - there is a familiarity and strength that is endearing to many and avoided by few.
About her craft
The same is true of her art.
A photographer from childhood and a graphic designer by vocation, Joanna has gone on to morph through many roles and been in many places.
Her travels and her life experiences have all contributed to the work that you see today.
Seldom described as quirky, Joanna's photos have a quality that many other photographers envy and that capture light and form through the eyes of an experienced person who is forever young.
Favourite Styles
Whilst her craft recognises few borders, Joanna's eye for colour, form and emotion seems to be most at home in France. Here she makes the "shabby chic" appear "magnifique". Things architectural are transformed into art for slow consumption and increasing appreciation. This is in part a legacy from her late father's love of buildings and craft as a master carpenter.
Engaging with Joanna's photos
.... is not to be rushed.
Absorb the subtle hues and honest lighting of the pieces that you see. Step away and then come back for another look. There will always be another level of detail awaiting you on your return.
Of course, one of the very best ways to engage with these works is to consider buying a copy. We understand that they always go to the very best of homes.
